    Title:Research of Induction Delay Line Anode Photon Counting Detector

    Abstract:In this paper, we developed a photo-counting imaging detector based on the delay-line anode with induction readout, which has the advantages of high sensitivity and large detective area features. This novel detector is expected to be used in space astronomy, bioluminescence and spectral measurement applications. This detector consists of a microchannel plate (MCP), position-sensitive anode and readout. Among these key parameters, the performance of position-sensitive anode decides the performances of detectors to a large extent. As a charge induction readout delay line anode, the delay line anode decodes the position information of the incident photon by measuring the time delay between two ends of a propagation line. The detector with the anode can obtain high detection sensitivity and a large imaging area. Image charge pickup anode is placed outside the sealed vacuum tube, which not only simplifies the process difficulty of anode production but also improves the detector's reliability. Firstly, An inductive readout delay line anode was designed. We analyzed the influence of different thicknesses and mediums material of the detector on the induction charge of the position-sensitive anode. Then, a method is used to tackle the induction charge of different layers unbalance issue. After that, we designed and fabricated a 40 mmX40 mm position-sensitive anode. The experiment results indicate that the transmission attenuation of the anode output is less than 10%, and the inter-pole crosstalk is less than 3%. Finally, we implemented aphoton-counting imaging experimental system based on this anode. This experimental system provides better than 150um spatial resolution and can promote the theoretical and practical development of large-area array and highly sensitive detector for space astronomical UV spectrum measurement.

    Abstract:Orbital angular momentum (OAM) holds significant potential for achieving extremely high communication capacity, attributed to its orthogonality and infinite modes. Employing convolutional neural networks (CNN) for OAM mode recognition is an effective strategy to mitigate the effects of turbulence. However, recognition accuracy can be compromised when the training dataset is limited. To address this, we leveraged a conditional generative adversarial network (cGAN) for data augmentation (DA). The well-trained cGAN generated abundant augmented data with mode information, thereby enhancing the performance of the CNN. Experimental results clearly demonstrate that cGAN-based DA is an effective method for boosting recognition accuracy, resulting in a significant increase in recognition accuracy, rising from 24% to more than 99%. In addition, analyzing the relationship between the degree of DA and accuracy was instrumental in finding a balance between generation time cost and accuracy improvement. In addition, the application of cGAN-based DA to decomposed OAMs from the vortex array further validates its applicability in enhancing recognition performance.     Abstract:Docetaxel (DOC) is one of the second-generation antineoplastic drugs of the taxanes family with excellent antitumor activity. However, the mechanism of DOC inducing tumor cell apoptosis and treating cancer diseases, especially its interaction with DNA in the nucleus, and its adjuvant or combined Doxorubicin (DOX) acting on DNA molecules are unclear. In this study, the interaction mechanism between DOC and DNA, as well as the synergistic effects and competitive relationships among DOC and DOX when they simultaneously interact with DNA molecules were studied by laser confocal Raman spectroscopy combined with UV-visible absorption spectroscopy and molecular docking technology. The spectroscopic results showed that the binding constant of DOC to DNA is 5.25 x 103 M-1, the binding modes of DOC and DNA are non-classical intercalation and electrostatic binding, and the DNA-DOC complex has good stability. When DOC or DOX interacts with DNA alone, both of them can bind with bases and phosphate backbone of DNA, and also lead to DNA conformation changes; when DOC and DOX interact with DNA at the same time, the orders of interaction not only affect their binding sites with DNA, but also cause changes in the surrounding environment of the binding sites. In addition, the molecular docking results further verified that DOC and DOX have synergy and competition when they interact with DNA molecules simultaneously. The docking energies of DNA-DOC and DNA-DOX indicate the important role of van der Waals forces and hydrogen bonds. This study has practical significance for the design and development of antitumor drugs with less toxic based on the taxanes family and the combination with other drugs for the treatment of cancer.

    Abstract:In this paper, a novel controller designed for robust tracking control of a flexible-link manipulator operating in the presence of parameter uncertainties and external disturbances within the joint space is introduced. The proposed controller employs an adaptive sliding mode control approach, incorporating an improved barrier function, to ensure that trajectory errors remain within predefined performance bounds. This design enhances the tracking performance without overestimating control-switching gains. Additionally, a fixed-time adaptive sliding mode control, featuring a rapid nonsingular terminal sliding mode variable, is introduced to expedite the convergence rate of the system state during the initial stages. The efficacy of the proposed control scheme is established through the Lyapunov method, demonstrating finite-time convergence of the trajectory error to a specified neighborhood of zero. Experimental validation on a flexible-link system supports the effectiveness and advantages of the proposed control strategy, as evidenced via comparisons with two existing adaptive control schemes.

    Abstract:Fourier ptychographic microscopy (FPM) is a promising computational imaging technique that can bypass the diffraction limit of the objective lens and achieve high-resolution, wide field-of-view imaging. The FPM setups firstly capture a series of low-resolution (LR) intensity images by angle-varied illumination and then reconstruction algorithms recover the high-resolution (HR) complex-valued object from the LR measurements. The image acquisition process commonly introduces noise, ultimately leading to degradation in the quality of the reconstruction results. In this paper, we report a noise-robust Fourier ptychographic reconstruction method that generates the HR complex-valued object estimation using the image priors specified by denoising diffusion probabilistic models (DDPM). First, the initial estimation of the HR complex-valued object is matched with an intermediate state in the Markov chain defined by DDPM. Then, the noisy initial solution is iteratively updated to a high-quality reconstruction result in the reverse process of DDPM and gradient descent correction is incorporated to enforce data consistency with the LR measurements. The proposed method integrates DDPM specified image priors and gradient descent correction, achieving solutions with less noise-related artifacts and high fidelity for HR complex-valued object estimation in Fourier ptychographic reconstruction. We apply the proposed method on both synthetic and real captured data. The experimental results show that our method can efficiently suppress the impact of noise and improve reconstruction results quality.

    Abstract:The accurate detection of noncooperative spacecraft based on optical sensor data is essential for critical space tasks, such as on-orbit servicing, rendezvous and docking, and debris removal. Traditional object detection methods struggle in the challenging space environment, which includes extreme variations in lighting, occlusions, and differences in image scale. To address this problem, this article proposes a high-precision, deep-learning-based, domain-adaptive detection method specifically tailored for noncooperative spacecraft. The proposed algorithm focuses on two key elements: dataset creation and network structure design. First, we develop a spacecraft image generation algorithm using cycle generative adversarial network (CycleGAN), facilitating seamless conversion between synthetic and real spacecraft images to bridge domain differences. Second, we combine a domain-adversarial neural network with YOLOv5 to create a robust detection model based on multiscale domain adaptation. This approach enhances the YOLOv5 network's ability to learn domain-invariant features from both synthetic and real spacecraft images. The effectiveness of our high-precision domain-adaptive detection method is verified through extensive experimentation. This method enables several novel and significant space applications, such as space rendezvous and docking and on-orbit servicing.

    Title:Laser-guided anisotropic etching for precision machining of micro-engineered glass components

    Abstract:Micro-engineered glass components play a vital role in various domains, but their full potential remains untapped due to the lack of easily accessible high-precision machining methods for customizable microstructure. Our discovery of a new phenomenon, where laser-modified regions break the rule of inherently isotropic glass etching and regulate a directional anisotropic etching along modified tracks, has led to the development of a laser-guided anisotropic etching (LGAE) method. This method enables crafting precision glass microstructures with sharp features, smooth surfaces, and adjustable shapes and sizes. An ultrafast Bessel beam is utilized to create high aspect-ratio line-shaped modification within the glass. With a higher etching rate than pristine glass, the modified line guides directional anisotropic etching along the modified track, facilitating the formation of a V-shape with an angle altered by the etching ratio. These modified lines can further serve as basic building blocks to interconnect to construct a 3D internal modification region and then guide the glass's overall surface morphology etching evolution, enabling the creation of microstructures featuring designable shapes and adjustable feature sizes. To accurately predict and control the shape of the microstructures, we establish a finite difference etching model that incorporates localized etching rate regulation, validating the robustness and controllability of LGAE. This scalable method has successfully fabricated a 50 mu m period micro-pyramid array with high uniformity over a centimeter-scale area, demonstrating its suitability for large-scale manufacturing. The showcased micro-engineered glass components encompass V-groove arrays for fiber alignment, blazed gratings for light modulation, and microchannels with customized trajectories for microfluidic chips. These advancements driven by LGAE can significantly contribute to the progress of glass-based research and industries.

    Abstract:Current low-light enhancement algorithms fail to suppress noise when enhancing brightness, and may introduces structural distortion and color distortion caused by halos or artifacts. This paper proposes a content-illumination coupling guided low-light image enhancement network (CICGNet), it develops a truss topology based on Retinex as backbone to decompose low-light image component in an end-to-end way. The preservation of content features and the enhancement of illumination features are carried out along with depth and width direction of the truss topology. Each submodule uses the same resolution input and output to avoid the introduction of noise. Illumination component prevents misestimation of global and local illumination by using pre- and post-activation features at different depth levels, this way could avoid possible halos and artifacts. The network progressively enhances the illumination component and maintains the content component stage-by-stage. The proposed algorithm demonstrates better performance compared with advanced attention-based low-light enhancement algorithms and state-of-the-art image restoration algorithms. We also perform extensive ablation studies and demonstrate the impact of low-light enhancement algorithm on the downstream task of computer vision.     Abstract:The hollow core anti -resonant fibers (HC-ARFs) based on soft glass are in high demand for 3-6 pm laser delivery. A HC-ARF based on tellurite glass with 6 touching capillaries as cladding was designed and fabricated for the first time, to the best of our knowledge. A relatively low loss of 3.75 dB/m at 4.45 pm was realized in it. The effects of capillary number, core diameter, wall thickness of capillary, and material absorption loss on the loss of the HC-ARF were analyzed by the numerically simulation. The output beam quality was measured and the influence of bending on the fiber loss was discussed. The results of numerical simulation suggested that the theoretical loss of the prepared fiber can be reduced to 0.1 dB/m, indicating that tellurite HC-ARFs have great potential for mid -infrared laser applications.     Abstract:We utilize the reconstruction of attosecond beating by interference of two-photon transitions (RABBITT) technique to study the phase of a Rabi-cycling atom using circularly polarized extreme ultraviolet and infrared fields, where the infrared field induces Rabi oscillations between the 2s and 2p states of lithium. Autler-Townes splittings are observed in sidebands of the photoelectron spectra and the relative phases of outgoing electron wave packets are retrieved from the azimuthal angle. In this RABBITT scheme, more ionization pathways beyond the usual two-photon pathways are required. Our results show that the polar-angle-integrated and polar-angleresolved RABBITT phases have different behaviors when the extreme ultraviolet and infrared fields have coand counter-rotating circular polarizations, which are traced back to the different ionization channels according to the selection rules in these two cases and their competition relying on the propensity rule in laser-assisted photoionization.

    Abstract:A three-dimensional numerical model developed based on the finite element method to simulate the positionreconstruction performance of multilayer capacitive anodes is presented. The charge collection efficiency and position nonlinearity are calculated for different electrode layers, patterns, and sizes, as well as the distance between the bottom microchannel plate (MCP) and induction layer. The position nonlinearity exhibits an approximately linear relationship with the electrode size and the distance between the bottom MCP and induction layer. By increasing the electrode area in the perimeter region and designing 2.2 mm square electrodes in the central region, a position nonlinearity of 3.36% with a distance of 5 mm between the bottom MCP and induction layer is achieved. The imaging performance of the six multilayer capacitive anodes is evaluated using a custom-designed detector prototype, and the experimental results validate the simulation results. The comprehensively optimized capacitive anode shows an imaging nonlinearity of 0.91% in the experiment.

    Abstract:We demonstrate an environmentally stable femtosecond laser for industrial application based on all polarization-maintaining Yb-doped laser and experimentally explore the effect of the net cavity dispersion (NCD) on output characteristics. The oscillator emits pulses with 5.1 ps and a 23 nm spectral bandwidth, then the pulse is compressed to 88 fs. The instabilities over 120 h gives 0.32% relative root mean square noise, indicating high stability of the pulse laser. With effective regulation of NCD, we obtained the maximum spectral bandwidth of 27 nm. Such broadband oscillator with compact all-fiber configurations provide extremely high stability should be very attractive for long-term industrial application.
